Avoid Income Tax Refund Loans, Article Advises

Last year Wisconsin taxpayers paid more than $32.5 million for these loans and associated fees, the paper reported.

Banks, UW-Extension Offer ‘Get Checking’
Posted on January 10th, 2010 No commentsUniversity of Wisconsin-Extension offices and Wisconsin banks are teaming up to help give troubled consumers a second chance at having a checking account, the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune reported. Residents of Adams, Marathon, Waushara, Waupaca and Wood counties can pay $10 to participate in the three-hour Get Checking Program. Upon completion, they receive a certificate they can bring to a sponsoring bank.

Bill Would Expand Access to Capital

The bill aims to expand access to credit for businesses in Wisconsin, reported the Manitwoc Herald Times Reporter. The Community Bankers of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Bankers Association support the bill.
