    Gary Stern will retire this summer as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, ending a 24-year tenure as he nears the mandatory retirement age of 65. Stern’s exit comes in the midst of a financial crisis — a threat he tried to warn about years earlier. Among the warnings: his 2004 book, Too Big To Fail: the Hazards of Bank Bailouts.
